Our weekend was full of cat trauma. Somebody in our little household decided to give the cat an essential oil massage. Turns out essential oils are toxic for cats. So much opportunity for learning in every moment. AHHHHHHH.
Alas, we are on the other side. The family pivoted. A birthday dinner was postponed, a cat was given fluids at a clinic in Scarborough, feelings were protected. The best part: nobody has to live with killing their cat accidentally. All this to say, incidents got in the way of my normal Sunday post.
Will you join me in offering up some mundane gratitude instead? What’s mundane and good in your life? Let’s encourage each other!
I am in the midst of folding 6 loads of laundry. Mostly mine. Emily hasn't been home, so I have fallen behind. What I have learned is, I need to get rid of some clothes and donate to the Red Door and I need to keep my routines in order. I am glad your cat is okay!
I like mundane life. :) I'm grateful to be living in the boonies where my worst problem is probably having to keep everything bear- (and racoon- and skunk- and coyote- and...) proof.
There was a mixup with my pay last Friday and it’s been sorted, and I am way grateful for that. Seems stores enjoy money in exchange for their goods, so the delayed weekend commerce has commenced.
I'm glad your kitty is okay. Our house is like that too: if a pet is sick, daily life grinds to a halt.
The key thing to remember about cats, as you probably know by now, is that they lick themselves and are amazing contortionists, so they can reach places we couldn't imagine being able to reach. Therefore, stuff that's safe to apply to a dog or human could potentially poison a cat. There's a label on my fil's dog's tick repellent that states, "DO NOT USE ON CATS," just for that very reason.
I'm sure your cat would appreciate a plain massage, though. :)
I went for a hike yesterday with my friend and I was REALLY COCKY!! I said "I know where we are" and then I sent us nearly 8 km in the wrong direction. I am grateful for my friend who laughed about it and grateful that I can eat my humble pie! I am glad your kitty survived the love-bath!!
It was my bragging that had me mortified this morning! I am grateful I didn't have to build a fire and a lean-to in the evening in the Bruce Peninsula!?

I'm glad you learned your lesson. Up here in NH, two hikers recently did the same thing, but got hopelessly lost (plus one somehow managed to get himself trapped on a mountain ledge!) - I'm pretty sure they learned their lesson, too, but they had to shell out $249 each to partially pay for their rescue, in addition to eating crow (https://www.backpacker.com/news-and-events/news/hikers-charged-reckless-conduct-new-hampshire-rescue/). Always remember, be prepared (and bring maps). I'm happy you found your way back with nothing more than a slice of humble pie. And your friend sounds like a gem. :)
YES!! I am a seasoned hiker and grew up in the bush (thus the embarrassing cockiness!), and was foolish and a little bit reckless! I needed to remember to always take hiking seriously and I'm glad my friend was a gem, grateful we were safe, and glad not to eat any crows!! CAW CAW! I am glad those two hikers are ok!!
Oh wow, this is so delicious! The picture of the cat who clearly had a stockpile of lives to make it through the oils, the feelings being protected and just the mundane gratitude idea... I love it. I will add this, I have an intense gratitude for my kids putting their own shoes on, and a deep joy and giggle when they put the wrong shoe on the wrong foot... if you can remember Best in Show with Eugene Levy who had two left feet... this cracks me up so hard and gets me through the walk home with two exhausted and desperately hungry toddlers. :)

You sound calm about your learning, which I admire. Calmly observe and adjust :)
Hi there, what is the Red Door? I've got some stuff I could donate too!

Good, I’m glad it’s sorted. Economic necessities.

Ha! Yes! The unscented kind!

Haha - good friend indeed. I have zero sense of direction so would definitely be the one sending us far far away from our goal.
xoxo

Me too, the Franconia Notch is a dangerous place to get cocky!

That's great - I hadn't thought of my cat having multiple lives, but of course!! Yay for finding the joys in two left feet :) You rock, mama.
