For Mother’s Day I had the impulse to interview my mother. I did it once before over here. Six years later I am compelled to ask her the same kinds of questions because I am always trying to get inside this woman’s head, and in the process answer the questions in my own life.
Lovely interview and many notable insights but I highlight two of them related to ‘motivation’: ‘The urgency of the sandpiper’ + ‘I will write and people will not feel so alone’.
Wow, thank you for this interview! Now I have two new books to read and some incredible insight into how your mom is doing. I was too young when I got my chance to study with your mother at Tyndale and I didn't have strong foundation in my personal life or enough life skill at the time to organize myself for class or study yet I will never forget her love of learning and how gentle and loving she was in sharing the art she treasured with us. It also has given me the idea to interview my own mom, maybe I'll do that when I see her this spring in Ottawa. It looks like you gave her questions to reflect on in writing so I'll follow your lead. I love this "Observable" and the Podcast too!
