A portrait of a woman in a little Portuguese town waiting for an uber that never came. It’s fine though. She’s satiated after a delicious pastry. She can feel the energy of her husband sweating under the pressure of finding a car, but not enough to ruin this moment of staring, feasting on the assorted views in front of her: dish towels floating in the wind, a family waiting for their meal, a tourist on a motorcycle.
Pig with Nicholas Cage. It’s about a chef and his beloved truffle pig and his journey to get her back. It’s also an exploration of food and relationship. And how food can create moments, becoming a catalyst for emotion.
We watched it at the farm where my sister and I spend a lot of time thinking about and creating meals. We are a little fanatical about creating flavour combinations and moments through our meals. We also love feedback. Did you like my Tom Yum soup with extra thin udon noodles? What about the French onion soup I whipped up while you were swimming? It’s light on Gruyère. I added strawberry to the blueberry, apple crumble—thoughts?
Violet and Frankie discussing their own type of creation. In this case a flower crown for Coco the cat.
V: Frankie can we make a flower crown for coco?
F: I guess.
V: I have really good glue.
Be it known how much can be accomplished in life with really good glue.
In other news…this week on Reframeables we spoke with sommolier Beverly Crandon who has a really interesting take on the industry, food parings and the story behind a wine. Hot tip about sparkling wine at the end of the interview.
We DO love feedback!! 😆
